This course is designed for health-care professionals and is taught by experienced physicians and paramedics. The principles and practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation will first be reviewed. Then, the student will learn advanced techniques such as bag-valve-mask ventilation, invasive airway maneuvers, and operation of a manual defibrillator/external pacemaker.
The course will also cover the various cardiac dysrhythmias- their etiologies, recognition, and medical treatment. Finally, the course will discuss such critical situations such as acute coronary syndromes and stroke along with their diagnosis and treatment.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association and any fees charged for such do not represent income to the Association.
