Dr. Martinez-Conde Delivered a Talk at TEDx Bermuda
Congratulations to Susana Martinez-Conde, Ph.D., who was a speaker at TEDx Bermuda on November 9, 2024. The theme for this year’s talk was to ‘reboot’ minds with evidence-based
stories that inspire optimism and courage. Dr. Martinez-Conde's research spans perceptual,
oculomotor, and cognitive neuroscience. She and her husband, Stephen L. Macknik, Ph.D., are renowned for groundbreaking studies on illusions, eye movements, perception,
neurological disorders, and the science of attentional misdirection in stage magic.
Both Dr. Martinez-Conde and Dr. Macknik are professors of Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Physiology & Pharmacology at Downstate.

A SOHP-tacular Halloween Celebration
The School of Health Professions (SOHP) held its annual SOHP-tacular Halloween celebration on October 31, bringing together faculty, staff, students, and community members for a joyful afternoon filled with fall spirit and connection. Sponsored by the SOHP Council, this year’s gathering beautifully showcased the generosity, dedication, and enthusiasm of our SOHP family.
From festive decorations to interactive experiences, the SOHP-tacular generated smiles and laughter. These special moments shared with our students, pediatric patients, and children from the Children’s Center remind us of our commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
A heartfelt thank you to all who helped create a special and memorable day.
