The Clinical Trials division within the Office of Research Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University works as a hub for clinical trial services and supports SUNY Downstate investigators with Clinical Trial Startup activities and provides oversight of all regulatory clinical trial activities.

Clinical Trials at Downstate maintains a diligent patient safety standard while understanding the need for a quick turnaround in clinical trial activities. The clinical trial team and investigators are committed to bringing new medical transformations that will benefit patients in our unique demographic location. To provide patients in our community the most innovative medical care opportunities, we provide our investigators and sponsors with a wide variety of services that will ensure a safe and effective way of onboarding clinical trials.

Our services include budget build and coverage analysis; contract and budget negotiation; financial management of clinical trials; clinical trial resources including space and personnel, phlebotomy services; regulatory document maintenance; drug and device management and additional resources to assist with patient recruitment and retention.

The Clinical and Translational Science Center

The Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is to provide a clinical space and other support for clinical and translational scientists who conduct human subject research. Translational research beginning at the laboratory bench that leads to clinical studies performed at the CTSC should aim to translate basic scientific discoveries into novel diagnostic and therapeutic methods that improve health care. Collaborations between basic and clinical scientists are encouraged.
